Arapaima - Hur777

Another creative rework of a top 40 track coming at you today, this time from Arapaima with a twist on Christina Aguilera's Hurt

Arapaima's version leaves much of the vocal sample intact but sped up to introduce it before looping it a bit for the buildup and chopping it right up when buildup drops back in at 0:56. The synth work is warm, and the percussion is tight. All around a really great and unique rework with Arapaima's signature sound.

I'm going to leave this review short and sweet to match the track. Enjoy.

Ren Phillips - Infatuation

It's likely no surprise that we've been liking Ren Phillips' productions for a while, as we posted about his Michael Jackson remix a while back, as well as including tracks in both previous mixes and Friday Care Packages.

Ren was teasing a new release all of last week on his Facebook page that was going to be published on Monday, so we were already primed and ready to hear it, and unsurprisingly it did not disappoint. Reworking and vocal pitching Sisqo's "Got To Get It", this is a catchy future deep house and garage concoction that goes down nicely. The bassline on here really compliments both the percussion elements along with the chopped vocals, giving the track a great flow throughout.

Infatuation is out as a free download hosted by the crew over at Pack London, and they have a number of other great free downloads available through their Soundcloud page, so make sure to check them out.

Flamingosis - About A Week Ago // Gas Pedal

A couple chill hip hop jams coming in for Mellow Monday this week, from an artist that we've featured multiple times before - Flamingosis.  Both of these tracks are remixes that have been reworked to have a completely different feel from the originals, and into that funky, jazzy and loungey hip-hop flavour that is Flamingosis' specialty.

About A Week Ago... is a remix of Bobby Shmurda's Hot N*gga, which is a pretty heavy gangster rap originally - but the rework turns the vibe into a much more laid-back jazzy hip-hop jam. The original lyrics still flow without much editing aside from the tempo.

The second track is a remix of Sage The Gemini's Gas Pedal.  Again, this puts a really fresh groove on the original - Flamingosis keeps the lyrical content, and simply weaves a whole new backdrop that they are presented against. Similarly, this rework brings in some grooving guitar licks and brings that signature funky hip-hop sound.

Both of these are up for free download, so pick them up and add them into your collection of summer jams.
