Le Youth - TOUCH (JackLNDN Remix)

If this tune sounds a little bit familiar, you're right - we posted about the original by Le Youth back in January. JackLNDN has put his laid back house spin on the original with a remix as a free download that was premiered by Nest HQ. While Le Youth's original was a house heater perfect for warming up dancefloors in the late winter months, JackLNDN's remix has come at just the right time - his chilled vibes fit nicely with the summer sunshine. With Nu Disco influenced basslines along with his signature house style, this is the perfect track for sunny afternoon lounging or getting things started on a lounge patio as the sun sets.

This remix, as with much of JackLNDN's material, is available as a free download. Grab it for your summer sets, playlists or road trip jams while it's fresh.

Deadmau5 - Strobe (Shemce Remix)

If you haven't heard of Deadmau5 by 2015, I'm not quite sure where you've been living, but it must have been dark there... Going back to the epic 10 minute closing track to his 2009 album For Lack of a Better Name, fellow Canadian producer Shemce takes on the Deadmau5 original, and brings it into contemporary deep house style with his remix.

It's not initially obvious when you start the Shemce remix that it is a take on Strobe, but anyone who has heard the original a couple times will definitely recognize the key sequence that comes in at the 1:28 mark. There are definitely nods to the original, and even when things drops back in at 2:00, there is definitely some obvious progressive house influence that remains even through the remix. To make things even better, this remix is up as a free download.

Also, in case you hadn't heard, Deadmau5 also just uploaded 3 new tracks over the past weekend, which you can check out on his page here.

Mellow Monday Material - Koala and CATMAGIC

I came across CATMAGIC on my Soundcloud stream a little while back, and through a little bit of profile exploration, also came across Koala - which I believe are two pseudonyms for the same producer. His material really embodies a very laid back chill vibe, which is exactly the type of music we try to post for Mellow Mondays. The tracks here have kind of a chill trap vibe, but they're all so soothing that it's hard to actually classify them as such. Have a listen below and see for yourself.

All of these tracks are available for free download as well, so hit the download button in the embedded players on any that you feel like adding to your collection - it's really that simple! Also make sure to check out both Koala's Soundcloud and CATMAGIC's Soundcloud for more material, and give them a follow to keep up to date on new releases.

Penthouse Penthouse - Conspicuous

The guys of Penthouse Penthouse out of LA have recently redone Usher's 2004 hit Yeah! Their rework entitled conspicuous has an interesting mix of Future R&B, Nu Disco and Chill Trap elements, used all alongside the majority of the easily recognizable original lyrics from the chart topper.

The guys recently picked up a Juno 106 (which will make any gearhead producer or synth fan jealous for sure) and put it to use with all of the synths in this remix having been created with the 106. These sounds give the track an interesting vintage vibe meshed with nu school sound and production and those nostalgic mid 2000 club-pop feels.

This is a really cool piece of work, and Penthouse Penthouse have uploaded it as a free download - so if you're feeling it, just hit the download button in the top right corner of the embedded player.

Golf Clap - Country Club Disco Vol. 1 (Free EP Download)

The guys from Golf Clap have been working on their new label Country Club Disco for a little while now, and have put out a ton of content for free - which we have posted about before. Golf Clap have come back to release a full 5 tracks in their brand of house music through the label just a little over a day ago, and once again, this is a free EP. Check out the previews in the embedded player below, and decide for yourself if the download is worth it (hint: it is).

There is a nice amount of variation within the EP, with a full vocal house jam in Show You, to house tracks that simply make good use of a vocal sample or edit, such as Future and Only One. Pop It and To The Jaw have vibes that would be at home on a Dirtybird release. All in all, this a varied and enjoyable free house EP - make sure you check it out and grab it today.

ALOKA x Mulkern - Feel

ALOKA and Mulkern put this ultra chill collaboration out a couple months ago, and I was lucky enough to stumble across it the other day. The intro starts out with some really warm chords and ambient sounds, and slowly but surely builds into some energy through the introduction of a kick, and later some additional piano chords. By the time the vocal comes in, the track is riding high without there having been any real obvious drops - simply an easing up into the groove.

Feel has a lot of deep house and garage elements integrated, but keeps a much more chilled vibe throughout. The progression and transitions through the various sections of the track are extremely smooth and enjoyable, with each change simply melting into the next.

This is a true Mellow Monday track, and it's up for a free download.  Hit the shopping cart below to grab the mp3.

Spazzkid - Promise (Suken Remix)

Spazzkid released the Promise EP a while back in the summer of 2014, an album with an indie dance feel to it.  The title track Promise also feels like it has some indie rock influence to it.

French producer Suken has just recently put his own spin on the title track that feels very much like chill glitch hop/trap/electro.  The remix is a drastic departure from the original while still keeping many of the lyrics, and also maintaining a real summer vibe. The cherry on top is that it's uploaded as a free download.

If you like this remix from Suken, make sure to check his other material on his soundcloud page - much of it is in the same genre niche as this remix, and also up for free download.

Spire - Girls

We posted the first track published by the new collective Soda Island last week (Xander Lewis' Honeydew in case you missed it), and they have come back with their second offering from a producer we've been watching for a little while - Spire. Girls is the most recently published track from the collective, keeping consistent to the high quality bar that was set with the first release.

Girls is an interestingly laid back but bouncy track with pitched vocals and interesting synth work. This one is hard to describe and classify, but it's pretty forward thinking stuff.  Make sure you check it out yourself and grab the free download. Also check out Spire's previous work on his Soundcloud page, as there is a lot of cool stuff there. You may also want to keep an eye on Soda Island, if these releases are any indication, there is much more good stuff to come.

Mind Cntrl - Muthaf-ckaz [Audiophile XXL]

If you've been waiting for a deep tech or g-house track that sounds like it was mixed with the vibe from The Price Is Right theme and/or smooth elevator jazz, it may not have existed before - but it does now. Mind Cntrl has just released a free download through Audiophile XXL called Muthf-ckaz that fits this bill perfectly.  This is some aggressive deep tech/g-house, so prepare yourself accordingly. The breakdowns into the jazzy horn sections are quite nice and laid back, only to descend into a full on aural assault with each drop.

As with most, if not all the tracks released through Audiophile XXL, this is up as a free download for a follow on Soundcloud, so grab it from the player below.

Mar - She's A Dancer (Produced by Sebastian Carter)

Mar brought some new material to Soundcloud this past week with She's A Dancer, the backing track produced by Sebastian Carter. This is a fairly chilled out tropical deep house track for Mellow Monday.

Starting off with some simple evolving synth pads and also adding in some subtle percussion, Sebastian Carter lays the perfect backdrop to showcase Mar's always spectacular vocals. The buildup finally drops in at the 1:10 mark, with She's A Dancer moving into tropical deep house territory. Mar is still very much still present in the track, and the backing track calms back down for the second verse only to drop back in at 2:55.

Mar has also released this for free download through Toneden, so hit the shopping cart in the player below and grab your copy.

The Kount - Kount Edition 2

Toronto based producer The Kount has just uploaded Kount Edition 2, an EP of 4 edits. This is some really funky stuff on here, with an experimental blend of disco, hip hop, soul and electronica. My favourite from this EP would have to be The Kount's edit of FKJ's Lying Together with its laid back vibe and late onset synths. These elements paired with the percussion and tight vocal chops give it both a laid back and tight feel at the same time. But really, it's hard to find fault with any of the tracks on the EP - all 4 are thoroughly enjoyable.

The Kount has also gone through and made a bunch of his older work available as name your price/free, so browse through the albums on his Bandcamp page and pick up what sounds good to you!

Rihanna - BBHMM (FAB & Alo Lee Cover)

Pop fans rejoice, we're posting another version of a top 40 track today. Rihanna's Bitch Better Have My Money has been covered and remixed in a collaboration between French producer FAB and vocalist Alo Lee. Though the lyrical content remains very much in tact, Alo Lee puts her spin on them and makes the demands for payment with sweet and smooth delivery. The backing track sends this cover/remix in another direction from the original, with mellow sustained synths, a subtle but effective bassline and assorted broken beat percussion.

This version is an understated but very enjoyable take on Rihanna's hit, and FAB has uploaded it as a free download.  Grab this and while you're at it, check out the other quality remixes Fab has done - almost everything on FAB's Soundcloud is up as free downloads.

Xander Lewis - Honeydew

This is some summery new age electronic funk if I've ever heard it before. I don't think I have. Is this some funky glitch hop? Chilled funky trap? I'm not quite sure what to call it, but if you're looking for something to work you through your Tuesday, this is it. Xander Lewis has created something really different here, and just in time to get downloaded before you have any holiday road trips. Honeydew features some really interesting synth work and forward thinking sounds while still keeping a steady funky vibe throughout the entire piece. Supported and premiered by the new collective Soda Island.

This is up for free download as well, can't go wrong.

Yugen - Calgary

We wanted to share this track earlier, but felt like it would fit best as a Mellow Monday post and held off until today. Abbey Fontaine and Edwin O'Hara are long term friends and a duo out of Melbourne working under the project name Yugen. After both having had to pull through some tough personal battles, they were faced with the choice of whether or not to continue with their musical project. As you can tell since you're reading this here, they decided to continue and put everything into their music.  This approach definitely comes across in their first track. Yugen sent some of their material my way through freshdrops email, and I'm glad they did - Calgary blew me away with the emotional depth and vocal chops exhibited on it. The backing track is a fairly simple but driving beat, but the real strength of this piece comes from the ambience created in the background along with the slow evolving melodic elements all working in unison with Abbey's superb vocal work and lyricism. Best of all, Calgary is released as a free download from their Soundcloud, which can even be downloaded from the embedded player below.

Yugen has already had some attention from Triple J, and have also put together a short teaser video available on Vimeo. Calgary is the first piece of work from Yugen, but it has me just waiting on their next piece. Make sure to follow their pages and watch for this duo as more material becomes available.

SoySauce - Thug Panda ft. Andy Milonakis (Lunch Money Project)

This is another free download coming courtesy of SoySauce.  You may remember us posting about his track Broken Record with Joni Fatora back in early February, and a little bit about his upcoming Lunch Money project. If the Lunch Box project doesn't sound familiar, let me introduce you. While Thug Panda is available as a free download, it will also available as a paid track though iTunes as part of the Lunch Money EP release in May.  If you purchase the track through iTunes as part of the Lunch Money EP, all proceeds from the sales will go toward setting up school lunch projects in some of the world's poorest communities. It's tough to concentrate fully at school on an empty stomach, and many kids who have this issue are also faced with other difficult issues that affect their ability to be successful in school.  If you decide to put up a couple bucks and purchase the EP through iTunes when it is released in May, you are helping to feed a child and enable them to succeed in school by lowering at least one of their barriers to learning.

Thug Panda starts out fairly chill and unsuspecting, then things start to heat up at about the 50 second mark.  As a Thug Panda is wont to do, this one will sneak up on you.  Least of all was I expecting the rap from Andy Milonakis that drops in at the 2:18 mark.  While the rap on this may not be your cup of tea, SoySauce has reassured a number of people already that the EP will include an instrumental of Thug Panda as a bonus track.  So feed children, AND get this instrumental by picking up the iTunes release in May.  It's a win-win here folks.

Stream the track below, and watch SoySauce's social media for the release of the Lunch Money EP coming sometime in May.

Dallas Cotton - Sometime ft. Brasstracks

Dallas Cotton, the artist formerly known as Yung Bae (there has to be a joke in there somewhere... or at least a Prince reference...) has just put out a new collaboration with Brasstracks -  a really energetic disco track chock full of brass goodness. This one took me surprise, partially because I didn't recognize the artist name, and I wasn't expecting the progression from the intro into the full energy that drops just 30 seconds in. Have a listen to this one for yourself and grab the free download through the shopping cart in the player below.

Sina. - It Was You

Three tracks not enough for Mellow Monday?  We thought not.  Sina. is an artist that I've been listening to for a while, but have yet to post on freshdrops.  That ends today. The Irish producer has started to tease a couple of the tracks from his upcoming free EP on Soundcloud, and It Was You is the latest he has uploaded in advance of that release. This is a really chill piece of work, and full of emotion - perfect for winding down Monday evening.  Just hit play and drift into the soundscape offered here for the next 4 minutes.  You'll be glad you did.  Then hit play again.

Watch for Sina.'s EP dropping soon for free, and in the meantime grab his remixes collection for free from his Bandcamp page - remixes of Passion Pit, Odesza, Kilimanjaro and more.

Flamingosis - About A Week Ago // Gas Pedal

A couple chill hip hop jams coming in for Mellow Monday this week, from an artist that we've featured multiple times before - Flamingosis.  Both of these tracks are remixes that have been reworked to have a completely different feel from the originals, and into that funky, jazzy and loungey hip-hop flavour that is Flamingosis' specialty.

About A Week Ago... is a remix of Bobby Shmurda's Hot N*gga, which is a pretty heavy gangster rap originally - but the rework turns the vibe into a much more laid-back jazzy hip-hop jam. The original lyrics still flow without much editing aside from the tempo.

The second track is a remix of Sage The Gemini's Gas Pedal.  Again, this puts a really fresh groove on the original - Flamingosis keeps the lyrical content, and simply weaves a whole new backdrop that they are presented against. Similarly, this rework brings in some grooving guitar licks and brings that signature funky hip-hop sound.

Both of these are up for free download, so pick them up and add them into your collection of summer jams.

TastyTreat x Black Monday x Cory Enemy - Press Reset ft. Amory

Press Reset is a really nice chill vocal trap track that should get your Monday going nicely. A collaboration between a number of artists - TastyTreat, Black MondayCory Enemy and Amory, there was no shortage of creative vibes going into this production. There are a lot of really interesting elements to this one, from intriguing key runs, to vocal chops, to the myriad of different synth sounds worked into. This is some future music for sure. Don't just take my word for it though, have a listen for yourself below.

This is available as part of a full free album release Hebinomichi Vol. 2, so head over and grab the 14 track compilation for whatever you would like to pay. The compilation has a number of great producers featured, from KRNE to SteLouse amongst others.  Check it out!

Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You (Mike Williams Future Remix)

So I've been having an internal battle ever since I found this track as to whether or not I should post it on freshdrops, since its such a guilty guilty pleasure. In the end, I decided there's no way I can withhold this sugary frosted future house goodness from all of you and just keep it for my own private pleasure, and so here is the post.

Carly Rae Jepsen is a name that should be fairly recognizable, as she is likely responsible for at least one song that you've had stuck in your head... Which again, I had a very Todd Edwards-y dub remix that I had the guilty and cheeky pleasure of throwing into a few sets here and there. Well she's back with an equally persistent earworm, made all the more enjoyable by Netherlands based Mike Williams putting a future house spin on it. And it's available through TropiKult as a free download.  If you enjoy hitting repeat an ungodly amount of times, listen and download below.  If you're not into mashing repeat, you may want to pass on this one.  Seriously, don't even listen.  Hey, at least I warned you.
