Golf Clap - Feel It (Mad Villains Remix) [Country Club Disco]

We've featured and posted in the past about both Mad Villains and Golf Clap, and they're both back with a remix on Country Club Disco.

Mad Villains brings a deep garagey vibe to Golf Clap's Feel It.  If you've heard any of Mad Villain's productions before, you'll recognize his tight production style right away.  If you haven't heard any of his previous material before, you best get on that and browse his Soundcloud page now. A healthy mixture of both house and garage in this remix, and Country Club Disco is just giving it away. Download through the shopping cart link in the player below or click here.

Honest - ?????

"I know that you've got everything but I've got nothing here without ya." Honest brings some authentic lost-love house and garage vibes to this untitled (or titled ?????) stomper that was uploaded about a month ago.

Working off the pre-chorus vocal sample from Ariana Grande's single One Last Time, Honest brings what will sound familiar to many following the top 40 scene, and twists it into fitting into this vibey house jam, producing a catchy club tune with some crossover value that sounds fresh and very different from the source of the sample. This is a solid and creative rework of the sample, and overall a great bit of production work that only gives the faintest tinge of guilty pleasure.

There doesn't appear to be anything hinting to any official release, and this one isn't looking downloadable at this time.  Settle for the stream, and stream the hell out of it - it's that good.

MORRT - Realize

MORRT is back with another free EP that he is gradually releasing on Soundcloud over the next few weeks. If you have been following him on any of his social media, he's teased some material that he's been working on, and the first track he's put out here is the end result. Realize is the first track from the EP, which was uploaded on Monday and has a dreamy house and garage club vibe all the way through. The sound is along the same lines of his arguably slightly poppier recent release Dive Right In, and in the same stream of particularly high quality music that he has been releasing.  We're looking forward to hearing the rest of this EP as it slowly rolls out. If you're feeling this, grab the free download through the shopping cart link in the player below, or just click here.

Middle - Shapes EP

Middle dropped a new free EP a little over a week ago, and we happened to stumble across it just a little late.  Following up on their success with Girl, which has racked up 50k plays on Soundcloud, the Shapes EP retains much of the Garage/Deep House vibe that seems to be becoming Middle's signature sound. Our favourite track from the EP is What You Did, which is very reminiscent to Girl - vocals that at times are included in full, and at other times chopped to add to the percussive elements, all surrounded by the recognizable synths. If you're looking for an artist comparison, I would say Middle is producing a sound reminiscent of NVOY.

The other two tracks on the EP are also definitely worth checking out - Give is a slightly more laid back track, while Take Off moves a bit to the heavier side, but both remaining with the same deep house and garage sound, keeping the EP quite consistent throughout.

Keep an eye on this French duo, as there is likely more quality work coming down in the future. Follow their Soundcloud here.

Ren Phillips - Infatuation

It's likely no surprise that we've been liking Ren Phillips' productions for a while, as we posted about his Michael Jackson remix a while back, as well as including tracks in both previous mixes and Friday Care Packages.

Ren was teasing a new release all of last week on his Facebook page that was going to be published on Monday, so we were already primed and ready to hear it, and unsurprisingly it did not disappoint. Reworking and vocal pitching Sisqo's "Got To Get It", this is a catchy future deep house and garage concoction that goes down nicely. The bassline on here really compliments both the percussion elements along with the chopped vocals, giving the track a great flow throughout.

Infatuation is out as a free download hosted by the crew over at Pack London, and they have a number of other great free downloads available through their Soundcloud page, so make sure to check them out.

Kartell - Attracted [Roche Musique]

If you're feeling the new Disclosure single from this week, you'll likely be down with Kartell's newest offering - Attracted. A bit more laid back house and garage jam, the percussion and synths work off of each other really nicely to keep the track moving along, and the vocals are smooth throughout.

The lyrical content is relatable, documenting the feeling of mutual attraction that just hasn't yet moved into something tangible.  The vibe on this matches well with that concept and feeling, with the buildups never really dropping into anything too heavy, but still thoroughly enjoyable. To me, this would be a perfect track to throw into a set where you want to start building up without losing energy.

Attracted is available on its own as a single, or as part of Kartell's newest release Tender Games, available for pre-order on iTunes here.

ALOKA x Mulkern - Feel

ALOKA and Mulkern put this ultra chill collaboration out a couple months ago, and I was lucky enough to stumble across it the other day. The intro starts out with some really warm chords and ambient sounds, and slowly but surely builds into some energy through the introduction of a kick, and later some additional piano chords. By the time the vocal comes in, the track is riding high without there having been any real obvious drops - simply an easing up into the groove.

Feel has a lot of deep house and garage elements integrated, but keeps a much more chilled vibe throughout. The progression and transitions through the various sections of the track are extremely smooth and enjoyable, with each change simply melting into the next.

This is a true Mellow Monday track, and it's up for a free download.  Hit the shopping cart below to grab the mp3.

Kartell - Genie In A Bottle

This is a throwback for Thursday in more ways than one... First of all, Kartell uploaded this about 10 months ago, but it is also a rework of Christina Aguilera's Genie In A Bottle.  And damn, this is a hell of a rework. Kartell brings the upbeat house and garage flavour here, with really tight production and attention to detail.  Things never get too busy, and there are well placed spaces in the sound throughout.

Uploaded by HW&W recordings, we've still been unable to track down a download, whether released as a free or paid download. If anyone has a line on this one, we'd appreciate a link, as this is too good to let go of without adding to our music library.

Room 2 - Sexy Sumo

I recently came across an artist out of Austin, Texas who is working hard on keeping the old school house vibe alive here in North America - Room 2. The contemporary take on old school house is evident in some of his past work such as Undertones, That One Time, and Stella. Obviously not one to simply regurgitate old ideas, Room 2 has made use of the classic and recognizable sounds from old school house, garage and deep house and worked them into high energy contemporary house pieces that pay tribute back to the older vibes.  If you haven't checked his Soundcloud page for his back catalogue, I highly recommend you check it out.

I came across Sexy Sumo in my stream while working on something else, and did a double take.  This is fresh stuff - future house production that still maintains some of that old school flavour. There's also that oh so recognizable "whoop" included as well for good measure. My other feel good moment in this one comes in at 3:05, with a filter back in. Just short enough to not lose the vibe, but just enough variation to get your neck hair standing.  Sexy Sumo by Room 2 has energy bursting from the seams, make sure you stream it while you can, as I've been informed it may not stay up for long, hopefully making its way to release soon. I can only hope, as I'd love to spin this one.

Hardrive - Deep Inside (Low Steppa Remix)

Hardrive's 1993 classic and frequently sampled Deep Inside has recently gotten the fresh remix treatment from a number of great artists such as Shadow Child, Kenny Dope, and Harry Romero, and are featured on a brand new release from the iconic label Strictly Rhythm. This post however, is obviously focused on the Low Steppa remix, as he's done some really cool work at blending his signature production style and sound with the instantly recognizable Deep Inside.

Check out the Low Steppa remix featured below, or check out previews of all the remixes featured on the release on Strictly Rhythm's Soundcloud page here.

Redlight x Tinashe - Pretend

I'm a bit late posting this, as Redlight published this a couple weeks ago already. But once you listen to Pretend, you'll understand why I had to post it regardless of how late I am to this one - it goes HARD. This is a heavy future garage/post-dubstep rework of Tinashe's Pretend, originally featuring A$AP ROCKY.

Pretend comes in rather unassuming - a chopped vocal loop over a fairly spacious background tracking.  That unassuming demeanour is shattered when the bassline drops in at the one minute mark. Though the bassline is heavy, the entire track is still fairly minimal and bare - which in this case translates into raw energy throughout.

The production style is almost a bit of a throwback, as it reminds me a bit of the minimal production from Redlight circa 2010 in MDMA, the instrumental that turned into the single "What You Talking About" featuring Ms. Dynamite (MDMA was the B-side on this release).

No word on release of this one yet, but enjoy the stream below.

Shenga - Just Can't Stop

I found Shenga, a duo based out of Sheffield in the UK, through Instagram where they had liked one of my posts regarding the blog. I decided to check out their material, as they had a link to their Soundcloud in their account description. I was pleasantly surprised, finding some really great house productions, of which Just Can't Stop is only one example. This is some deep house with some definite garage influence and a generally grimey vibe throughout.  It all works together through a nice bassline chord progression to really get the vibe across.

Grab the Just Can't Stop EP along with remixes from Beatport, and make sure to check Shenga's Soundcloud as well.

Blackbird Blackbird - Tangerine Sky (Bear Mountain Remix)

Vancouver based band Bear Mountain just uploaded this deep house remix of Blackbird Blackbird the other day, and it is great.  This has the throwback, old school garage vibe to it as well, which is a huge plus in my books.  The Bear Mountain remix is a fair departure in feel from the original, and definitely crafted with the dancefloor in mind.

Make sure to check out Bear Mountain's Soundcloud, there is some really cool stuff in there, in a variety of styles of music - from indie to funk to house, and everything between.

I love it when I get great Canadian content to post :)

Sab & Keelan - Used To Be (Two Rhodes Remix)

Two Rhodes did a fantastic remix of Sab & Keelan's Used to Be.  Depending on your style and mood, all of the tracks from this EP are great, so don't limit yourself to just this one.  However, I am really enjoying the deep tech and garage vibe that Two Rhodes brought to the table with their remix.

The EP was just released on Xylo Music through Beatport on the 23rd and was premiere'd by Deep Sounds on the 21st.  You can pick it up right here.

If you're feeling this, check out Sab & Keelan's Soundcloud, as they have some quality tracks, including the free download Muve that I opened the first Fresh Drops mix with.

Favulous - No Diggity

If you've been waiting for something higher energy, but still familiar this week, we've got you covered today.  Favulous published a Future House bootleg of the Blackstreet classic No Diggity last week.

This bootleg mostly preserves the instantly recognizable vocal from the original, but pitches it down slightly while starting out with an old school synth.  The bootleg then drops into a build and moves fully into Future House territory just past the one minute mark. This is a quick, high energy rework, perfect to try and convince a couple of those folks standing on the wall cause "I don't know this music" to make their way onto the dance floor without completely sacrificing your "artistic integrity" and dropping an original pop mix. It's made even better since it's released as a free download.

If future house isn't your scene and you still want a version of No Diggity to rock to, never fear: here's another free one, a House and Garage version from Phonetix that was released on Riddler Records not long ago and is available here. This one is also a great rework of the track that I've played out a number of times, plus Phonetix is just a legit dude (and sent me a promo copy a while back when I just couldn't wait - thanks again for that by the way!).
